This year’s Internoise 2013 took place in Innsbruck, Austria, which is 2h from Salzburg, my hometown. It was a huge succes for me, not only that I received a grant from the I-INCE but also because of the great responses I received on my paper on Theme Park Acoustics and their soundscape (see here).
As austrian representative of the young acousticians network (YAN) I was responsible of organizing a night out in Innsbruck. Doing a lot of online and oral propaganda, the expected number of attendees, 15, could have been raised to 50 people from all around the world (Venezuela, Columbia, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, UK, Spain, Germany, Austria…)!! Especially thanks to Jamilla Balint for her help. This is what makes conferences so attractive to me, so many equally minded young people meeting each other having one or … beers!

Together with Marian Weger I went to the Sound and Music Computing Conference 2012 (SMC) in Copenhagen, Denmark. We presented the work we did on Designing Simulacra. The how and why of electronic replication of mechanical instruments using electronic means and Pure Data. The paper is part of the proceedings.

I presented a paper entitled “Investigations on Cylindrical Microphone Arrays” written together with Hannes Pomberger and Franz Zotter from the IEM. Basically this work deals with the spatial resolution of a rigid cylindrical microphone array in different layouts. We propose a measure for the spatial resolution. Simulations of the array were done using the Boundary Element Mehtod (BEM).
The AES UK/Ambisonics Symposium 2012 took place in York, UK. A small but charming city. York is the home of Ambisonics pioneer Dave Malham. It was an exciting conference to be at!
